Your answers to this application allow us to learn about your lifestyle and what you are hoping for in a puppy. Some questions below ask about preferences — such as gender, color, or traits you may be drawn to in a puppy. Sharing your preferences helps us understand what you envision, but we cannot guarantee you a puppy with exactly those characteristics. When matching puppies to their new families, we always prioritize temperament, energy level, lifestyle compatibility, and overall fit. This ensures each puppy is placed with families where they will thrive and that your family is matched with a puppy whose temperament and energy feel like a natural fit from the very beginning.

What energy level are you looking for in a puppy?

Low-Energy Dogs: Level One - The low-energy dog is your typical couch potato. Because these dogs lie around most of the time, they make a great companion for a relatively inactive person. These dogs require a few short daily walks, and then they’re happy snuggling next to you for the rest of the day or playing with toys inside. Low-energy dogs are not typically impressive athletes and do not usually enjoy long walks or jogging. Examples of typical low-energy dogs you might have met include the basset hound, English bulldog, clumber spaniel and pomeranians.

Medium-Energy Dogs: Level Two - These dogs are mellow most of the time, but they will have bursts of energy. This dog will need a 20-30 minute walk around the block or playing fetch in the backyard each day and would benefit from longer walks or play times a couple of times each week. A medium-energy dog would also benefit from mental stimulation such as playing with a variety of toys inside or outside in your backyard. Medium-energy dogs typically enjoy socializing and playing games of chase with other dogs. They may also have occasional periods of barking or running around the house, but they’ll calm down fairly naturally after 5 - 10 minutes without a ton of encouragement from you. This dog is great for a family with kids who will run around and play with him, go to soccer games, etc. or for a family or individual with an active or semi-active lifestyle. Examples of typical medium-energy dogs you might have met include the Boston terrier, cocker spaniel, French bulldog, Labrador retriever and the dachshund.

High-Energy Dogs: Level Three - If you want a dog that would make a great jogging or hiking partner or one that will play fetch or other games with you for as long as you can play, the high-energy dog might be the best pick for you. High-energy dogs are always raring to go; they can play all day and night. You’ve got to dedicate time to making sure these dogs get plenty of mental and physical exercise—if you don’t, all that pent-up energy may lead to destructive behaviors. You will need to provide a variety of toys (Kongs, Kong wobblers, plush squeaky toys, antlers, etc.), especially when this high energy dog is left alone. These dogs usually have a tail that wags at a hundred miles an hour. They may stare at you enthusiastically as though they’re saying, “Let’s play!” Dogs with this level of energy may not be the best choice for families with small children as its running and jumping might be too much and scare a child or unintentionally knock the child over. Examples of typical high-energy dogs you might have met include the border collie, Australian shepherd, boxer, and the Siberian husky.

Puppies require attention. If your puppy will be left alone for more than 2 hours at a time, what is your plan to care for your puppy while you are away? How will your puppy go out to potty, play and interact with people while you are gone?*

All of the information and answers to questions that I have provided within this application are complete and correct to the best of my knowledge. I also confirm that I am an adult over the age of 18 and can enter into a contract to purchase a JoaLins puppy.

I understand that JoaLins will select and match a puppy to each family that has placed a reservation fee based on several factors. Those factors include the order in which JoaLins receives the reservation fees for each litter, the top 3 puppy choices of each family after visiting with the puppies, the puppies' temperament and energy level, the lifestyle of each family, and answers provided on each application. I also understand that other factors, such as being a past JoaLins puppy buyer, may be considered.

I understand that JoaLins' decisions on which puppy to place with which family are guided primarily by the puppy’s temperament, energy level, and characteristics, and each family’s lifestyle. Preferences such as gender and color are definitely considered by JoaLins but are not guaranteed. I understand that this means that placing a reservation fee does not guarantee a specific gender, color or puppy but secures my place on JoaLins’ reservation list.

I understand that JoaLins will select prospective breeding dogs first from each litter when the puppies are around 7 weeks of age and after their temperament testing. Those selected puppies will no longer be available for puppy families.

I understand that JoaLins will send my puppy home on a spay/neuter contract. This means that JoaLins requires that this procedure be performed before the puppy’s 12-month birthday by a qualified veterinarian. I understand that I must have this procedure done by this 12 month deadline and send paperwork from my veterinarian documenting that this procedure has been completed back to JoaLins.

I acknowledge that JoaLins has the right to return my puppy reservation fee at any time at the discretion of JoaLins. I understand that if my reservation fee is returned, any and all written, verbal, or implied agreements to sell me a puppy are terminated and no further obligation of any kind exists between me and JoaLins.

I understand that once my puppy application is approved and I choose to go forward with buying a puppy from JoaLins, I will be asked to submit a $500 reservation fee to hold my place on the JoaLins Master Reservation list. I further understand that my $500 reservation fee will be applied toward the $3000 total cost of my JoaLins puppy. The balance of the $3000 total cost will not be due until the puppy is 4-5 weeks old. I understand that this reservation fee is non-refundable but may be transferred to a later litter within one year. I acknowledge that if I change my mind and do not buy a puppy from JoaLins I will forfeit my reservation fee.
